Dr. James E. Rekoske

With more than 30 years of experience in the chemical industry, Dr. Jim Rekoske has built and led high-performing teams across every stage of growth. He began his career at Honeywell UOP, where he ascended to become the Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. In this role, Dr. Rekoske had global responsibility for the entire technology organization at UOP, ranging from basic and applied research on new materials, catalysts, membranes and adsorbents through to process development, scale-up and commercialization. Most recently, Dr. Rekoske served as the Senior Vice President, Enterprise Technology Platforms & Growth at Ecolab, where he directed R&D strategy and execution for the global leader in water, hygiene and infection prevention. During his tenure at Ecolab, he also oversaw technical assessments for venture capital investments and M&A deals. Dr. Rekoske retired from Ecolab in 2025 and is currently an active advisor to various venture capital and private equity firms, including American Industrial Partners and Decarbonization Partners.
Dr. Rekoske holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware, and an MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, where he was the Amy and Richard F. Wallman Scholar. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and has lived or extensively worked throughout his career in North America, Europe, China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South America. His deep understanding of chemical industry trends, technology maturation and market dynamics, combined with his extensive board experience and international perspective, makes him a valuable advisor for organizations navigating complex technology and business challenges.
